Eulogy for Ophelia

Ophelia was my dear friend who I grew up with. she always was a happy young girl who brought smiles to everyone around her. She never seemed down on herself and was the shining bright in the middle of darkness.
Ophelia was a great friend and a loving daughter. She always brought happiness to her father and to friends like me. She also was great to her brother who she loved very much and he loved her very much.
You may not have known but Ophelia was very smart in her own right. She caught on to things every easily. I remember her being able to solve riddles and math problems and of course how cold I forget she was a great writer. She wrote beautiful poems that could bring warmth or chills to you.
She never backed down from criticism she would take it like a pro she would laugh and even take jabs at the people who criticized her. She always made people laugh even the people who tried to bring her down. So in reality she was impossible to insult due to her character. She was a solid person for most of her life.
I can just imagine her red hair flowing through the wind while she ran along laughing on the outskirts of the castle as a bunch of boys chased her in love. However not like other girls she would stop and talk to the boys and make them feel appreciated. They all gazed transfixed on her and really didn't snap out until they heard the words sorry boys I have to and there she went back to her home.
Before we knew it we were growing up and time flew like how our parents always said it would. Our years passed as if they were just a dream. I remember walking with her one night outside in the fields outside of the castle walls. We talked about how our lives were about to enter the adult years and how the world was a mystery that would soon decide our faith. She was very optimistic even with the future so cloudy.
Its hard to say what ill miss about Ophelia I would have to say ill simply miss her presence. She brought happiness by just being places. The extra life she brings will never be felt again.
At least ill no longer be blinded by her bright orange hair.
My heart goes out to everyone who has been saddened by her loss but ill tell you this. Ophelia is happy and looking back on this land every minute.

  1. Interesting take! I like how you added to her story and built around what we know about her. It really reminds me how little voice Ophelia is actually given in the play.
